Durable Polished Concrete Floors for Pittsburgh Homes
Transform your living space with a polished concrete floor that stays hard and bright for decades. We grind your existing slab, densify it chemically, and polish to your chosen gloss level, satin or high-gloss. No coating to peel. No surface to replace. Just damp-mop maintenance and a floor that improves with age.

The difference
Polished Concrete Is the Slab Itself, Not a Coating
When you choose a polished concrete floor, you are choosing the slab itself as your finished surface. We do not apply a coating on top. Instead, we grind the concrete progressively finer with diamond tooling, apply a chemical densifier that hardens the surface into a tight, low-pore matrix, and then polish to your preferred gloss level.
Satin finishes sit around 400 grit and offer a soft, understated look. High-gloss can reach 3000 grit and beyond, creating a mirror-like reflectivity that opens up the room. The choice is yours, and we grind to the exact level you want.
Because the polish is part of the concrete itself, there is nothing to peel, scratch through, or reapply. Your maintenance routine is simple: damp-mop once a week. Compare that to epoxy coatings that eventually need recoating, or stamped surfaces that require periodic sealing. A stained concrete finish can be combined with polishing for added colour depth.
The process
How We Grind and Polish Your Concrete Floor
-
Assess moisture and surface condition
We measure slab moisture levels, check for cracks, cold joints, and any existing coatings that need removal. This determines whether your slab is ready to polish or needs prep work first.
-
Grind progressively finer
Using diamond tooling, we grind the surface through multiple passes, each finer than the last. This removes surface imperfections and exposes the concrete matrix underneath.
-
Apply densifier and protector
A chemical densifier hardens the surface and closes the pores. We add a stain-protection layer where needed so your polished floor resists spills and everyday wear.
-
Final polish and cure
We polish through the final grits to reach your chosen gloss level, buff for clarity, and allow the densifier to cure fully. You take handover with a simple damp-mop routine.
Your options
Polished vs Epoxy, Stain, Micro-Topping
Polished concrete and epoxy are the two main interior floor choices. Polished is the slab itself, ground and densified. Epoxy is a seamless coating that offers more colour and pattern choices but will eventually need recoating.
Stained concrete uses acid or water-based dyes to add colour to the slab, often paired with a polished or sealed finish for protection. Micro-topping is a thin overlay that turns a damaged or unsuitable slab into a polish-ready surface. Self-leveling underlayment corrects flatness issues before any finish is applied.

Polished Concrete Floor Questions, Answered
Gloss levels, slab conditions, density and maintenance for polished floors in Pittsburgh.
Polished the whole main floor after the kitchen reno. The reflectivity makes the whole room look bigger and the maintenance is just a damp mop once a week.
Picked a satin gloss level instead of full high-gloss for the basement. Soft underfoot look, hard as can be, and the kids' toys roll cleanly across it.
They tested the slab first and recommended a micro-topping before polishing because of some surface cracks. Saved us from a polish-over-cracks disaster, exactly the right call.
Stain protector is doing its job. We have spilled coffee and red wine and both wiped up clean. Maintenance is way less than the hardwood we replaced.
