Concrete Floors Built for Manufacturing Operations in Pittsburgh

Your factory floor absorbs impact, chemical exposure, static discharge, and dust generation every shift. We engineer and install concrete systems that stand up to those demands: heavy-duty slabs for impact and load, chemical-resistant coatings for spills and washdown, grounded ESD systems for electronics, and dust-proof sealers for clean rooms. Every floor starts with a site assessment and a free written estimate.

  • Slab engineered to the load
  • Coating matched to the chemistry
  • Installed around your schedule

Concrete as infrastructure

When the Concrete Floor Becomes the Bottleneck

A manufacturing floor is not decoration. It is load-bearing infrastructure that either supports the process or fails it. Spalling under forklift traffic, chemical degradation from coolant or caustic washdown, static discharge damaging sensitive electronics, or dust contaminating finished goods, these are not cosmetic problems. They stop production.

We build four distinct systems. Heavy-duty concrete floors use thicker pours and reinforcement to absorb impact and high point loads. Chemical-resistant epoxy and urethane coatings shed acids, alkalis, and aggressive solvents. Grounded ESD flooring dissipates static for electronics and pharmaceutical lines. Dust-proof sealing closes the slab pores so it stops shedding particles.

The right system depends on what the process demands. We assess the loads, chemistry, and compliance requirements, then specify the concrete and coating that match. This is industrial concrete engineering, not guesswork.

Installation sequence

How a Manufacturing Concrete Floor Gets Built in Pittsburgh

  1. Assess the process and loads

We walk the facility, measure equipment footprints, identify chemical exposure, static sensitivity, dust generation, and compliance standards. This determines the slab thickness, reinforcement, and coating system.

  2. Prepare the existing slab

We grind, shot-blast, or scarify the concrete surface, repair cracks and spalls, and pour self-leveling underlayment where the floor is out of plane. The slab must be sound and clean for the coating to bond.

  3. Install the system

We apply primer, epoxy or urethane base coat, and topcoat per manufacturer spec. For ESD floors, we install conductive layers and test continuity. For dust-proof sealing, we apply penetrating sealer and verify closure.

  4. Cure, test, and hand off

Each section cures to full strength before traffic resumes. We document cure times, perform adhesion and hardness testing, and provide cleaning and maintenance protocols so the floor stays certified.

Four floor types

Matching the Concrete System to the Process

Not all manufacturing floors are the same. A fabrication shop with drop-forges and hydraulic presses needs heavy-duty concrete that absorbs impact without spalling. A chemical plant or plating line needs chemical-resistant flooring that sheds acids and alkalis without degrading. An electronics assembly or pharmaceutical operation needs anti-static ESD flooring that grounds the floor and prevents static discharge.

Where the process is less aggressive but dust or cleanliness matters, dust-proof concrete sealing closes the slab at a lower cost than a full coating system. We specify the system to the room, not the room to the system. The assessment is free, and the estimate is written and itemized.

Common questions

Manufacturing Floor Questions, Answered

Process loads, chemicals, static and dust requirements for industrial manufacturing concrete in Pittsburgh.

By matching it to the process. We confirm loads, chemicals, static or dust requirements and the cleanliness or compliance standard, then choose between heavy-duty, chemical-resistant, ESD or dust-proof systems.
Yes. A heavy-duty slab with a chemical-resistant coating handles both, the slab takes the impact and load, the coating sheds the spills. We engineer the combination to your specific chemistry.
ESD flooring is a grounded floor system that dissipates static electricity. Electronics, pharmaceutical and battery operations need it because a static discharge from a normal floor can damage products or trigger an event.
Usually. We phase the work cell by cell or shift the schedule to off-hours, so production keeps running while one area cures. The phasing plan is built with you before the first prep.
It depends on the room. Dust-proof sealing closes the slab against airborne dust at a fraction of a full coating's cost. Where chemicals, impact or static are also factors, the room needs a full system.

★★★★★

Heavy-duty slab with a chemical-resistant topcoat. Two years of dropped steel and coolant spills and the floor still looks like the day it was sealed.

ESD floor through the assembly line. Grounded, tested and documented. The fix to our static discharge issues was the floor, not the people.

★★★★★

Dust-proof sealer on the warehouse floor, full system in production. Our particle counts dropped immediately and have stayed there.

★★★★★

They phased the prep cell by cell so production never stopped. Floor system has shrugged off forklifts, hot work and the worst of our cleaning.
