Concrete Driveways, Patios & Floors Across Pittsburgh

We form and pour concrete slabs throughout Pittsburgh, from Shadyside to Lawrenceville, Squirrel Hill to the North Shore. Driveways, patios, garage floors, basement slabs, foundations, steps and sidewalks all get the same site visit, written quote and finish-date commitment before the first shovel hits the ground.

  • All Pittsburgh neighborhoods served
  • Engineered for freeze-thaw cycles
  • Written estimate, firm schedule

Why Pittsburgh concrete matters

Slabs That Survive Pittsburgh Winters

The freeze-thaw cycle is relentless here. Water seeps into hairline cracks, freezes, expands, and splits the slab wider. A properly engineered pour starts with a compacted gravel base, air-entrained mix that flexes instead of fractures, and the right thickness for the load it will carry. That foundation work is invisible, but it determines whether your driveway lasts 15 years or 25.

Pittsburgh's neighborhoods vary wildly in age and lot size. A Victorian in Shadyside might have a narrow side yard and mature trees; a newer subdivision in the east end offers open space and fresh grade. We have poured in both. The free site visit is where we assess drainage, existing utilities, access for the concrete truck or pump, and how the new slab ties into what is already there.

How we work

From Estimate to Finished Concrete

  1. Free on-site visit and quote

We measure the area, talk through finish options and drainage, and leave you with a written, itemized quote that includes a firm price and realistic start date.

  2. Tear-out, base prep and forming

We remove old concrete if needed, excavate to grade, compact the gravel base, and set forms so the slab sits exactly where it belongs.

  3. Mix, place and finish

The concrete is placed, screeded level, and finished in the style you chose. Control joints are cut so seasonal movement follows a clean, planned line.

  4. Cure schedule and handoff

We clean the site, walk the finished work with you, and provide a simple cure-and-care schedule so you know when the slab is ready for traffic.

Finishes for the climate

Choosing the Right Concrete Finish for Pittsburgh

The finish is what faces the weather, so it carries the load through winter. A broom finish on a concrete driveway grips underfoot when wet and sheds meltwater fast. An exposed-aggregate surface hides salt etching and wear better than a smooth trowel, making it popular for patios and pool decks.

If you want the slab to be a design feature, stamped concrete and integral color mimic brick, slate or flagstone at a fraction of the maintenance cost. Pair it with matching concrete steps or a poured walkway and the whole front elevation reads as one cohesive project.

Indoors, an epoxy garage floor resists hot tires and tracked-in salt without staining, while a polished concrete floor in a basement gives you a hard-wearing, easy-clean surface. Check our cost guide for finish pricing and durability comparisons.

Questions about Pittsburgh concrete

Permits, Access & Concrete Finishes

Answers to common questions about concrete work in Pittsburgh.

Flatwork like a driveway or patio replacement usually does not, while foundations, structural steps and taller retaining walls often do. We tell you upfront what your job needs and can pull the permit as part of the project.
Yes. Most city backyards are reached with a concrete pump or wheelbarrow runs when a truck cannot back in. We check access on the free visit and build it into the quote, so a fenced yard or a narrow side gate is not a dealbreaker.
Late spring through early fall is ideal, but we pour into the shoulder seasons with the right mix and curing care. Spring and fall book up fastest, so reaching out early gives you the most flexible start date.
Often, yes. If the base has failed or the slab is heaved and spalling, a full replacement on a fresh compacted base outlasts a patch. We will tell you honestly on the visit whether repair or replacement is the better value.

New basement floor after the old one was torn out. Flat enough the laminate went down without a single shim. Tidy crew and a clear cure schedule.

Tore out a cracked driveway and re-poured on a proper base. Even broom finish, clean control joints, and the price matched the written quote exactly.

Tight access between two older houses and they still got the pump in and poured a great patio. Drains away from the foundation just like they said.

Epoxy garage floor that still looks new after a full winter of salt and slush. Easy to clean and no hot-tire pickup. Would hire again.
