Kitchen Islands, Bars & Vanities in Concrete Countertops

Your countertop is templated to the exact footprint of your space, then cast in custom forms with all cut-outs and edges built in from the start. Pittsburgh Concrete finishes the surface to your chosen profile, seals it against heat and stains, and installs it level. Indoor kitchens and baths, outdoor bars and grill stations, all cast to fit.

The templating process

How Concrete Countertops Start With a Template

Before any concrete is mixed, we measure your cabinets or base structure and create a template that captures the exact footprint, including where the sink, cooktop or bar sink will sit. This template becomes the blueprint for the custom forms.

Because the counter is cast to that template, not cut from a larger slab, the edge profile you choose lands exactly where you want it. A kitchen island countertop wraps without a visible seam, and an outdoor bar counter aligns perfectly with the grill station.

The finishing work mirrors the care we bring to polished concrete floors and pool deck resurfacing. Grinding, honing and sealing are all done to specification so the surface performs as well as it looks.

The casting sequence

From Template to Sealed Concrete Countertop

  1. Measure and template

We visit the site, measure the cabinets or base, and create a template that shows the exact shape, edge profile, finish choice and all cut-out locations.

  2. Fabricate custom forms

Forms are built to the template with reinforcement placed to prevent cracking across the span. Cut-outs are blocked out so they land precisely where they belong.

  3. Pour and cure the slab

The concrete is cast into the forms, vibrated to remove air pockets, and cured either in our shop or on-site depending on size and access.

  4. Finish, seal and set

The surface is ground and honed to the finish you selected, sealed against stains and heat, then installed level on the cabinets or base.

Two main applications

Choosing Between Indoor & Outdoor Concrete Countertops

An indoor concrete countertop is honed smooth and sealed food-safe for kitchen islands, perimeter runs and bathroom vanities. The finish resists daily wear, heat from cookware and stains from spills.

An outdoor concrete countertop is formulated tougher for UV exposure and weather cycles. It is the ideal surface for a grill station or outdoor kitchen because it handles heat from the grill and stands up to seasonal temperature swings. Both types are cast to fit, so the counter integrates with the space instead of being forced to fit it.

Common questions

Concrete Countertop Questions, Answered

Casting, finishes, durability and care for concrete countertops in Pittsburgh.

Yes. Every indoor concrete countertop is templated to your exact cabinets and cast in custom forms, with sink and cooktop cut-outs placed where they belong, not trimmed from a stock slab.
Sealed concrete resists stains and heat well and is harder than it looks, but like any counter it is not indestructible. We seal it properly and give you the simple care steps that keep it looking new for years.
Square, eased, bullnose and custom edges, with honed, polished or lightly textured surfaces. We confirm the edge, finish and colour on the template visit so the cast counter matches what you pictured.
Either, depending on size and access. Smaller counters are often cast in our shop and installed finished; larger or wrap-around counters may be cast in place. We confirm which on the estimate.

Cast a concrete island top with no seam where you would notice one. The edge profile is exactly what we picked and it has shrugged off everything the kitchen throws at it.

Outdoor bar counter for our grill station. Built tougher for the weather, and a full year outside later it still looks the day it was sealed.

They templated the vanity properly so the counter dropped in level first try. Honed finish feels great and the sealer has held up to daily use.

Loved that it was cast to our space, not cut to fit. The cooktop cut-out landed exactly where it should and the colour matches the floor.
