Ardex · Certified Installer

Pittsburgh Concrete Holds Ardex Certified Installer Status

Certification means our crews have completed Ardex training, install to Ardex specifications, and document every project for system-level warranty coverage. That distinction matters. Without certification, Ardex warranty covers only the product itself. With it, the warranty extends to labor and the full cost of correcting a failure.

The certification difference

How Ardex Certification Changes the Warranty You Get

When a concrete slab or overlay system fails, the cost of repair goes far beyond the material itself. You face labor to remove the failed system, labor to install the replacement, and often disruption to operations or use of the space. Product warranty covers only the material. System warranty covers the labor and the full scope of correction.

We maintain Ardex certification across the product range we install regularly, which includes overlays, self-leveling underlayment, repair mortars, and waterproofing systems. The certification requires training on prep, primer, mix ratios, application method, and cure conditions for each product. It also requires documentation at install time so the warranty claim is supported by as-built records.

This approach extends across our Ardex overlay work, our waterproofing systems, and our broader brand specialty services. Whether the project is commercial flooring or residential basement concrete, the certification carries the same value.

How Certification Flows Through Your Project

  1. Identify the Ardex system

At quote time, we confirm which Ardex product or system your project requires and verify that our certification covers it. Most standard Ardex systems fall within our scope.

  2. Follow certified install spec

The crew installs to the exact Ardex specification the certification covers, including substrate prep, primer application, mix ratios, placement method, and cure protocol.

  3. Capture install documentation

During the install, we record as-built dimensions, batch numbers, application photos, and any testing results required by the Ardex system specification.

  4. Register warranty with Ardex

The complete documentation package is submitted to Ardex for system warranty registration. You receive a copy of the warranty certificate and all supporting records at project handoff.

Warranty scope explained

Why System Warranty Outweighs Product Warranty

A product warranty replaces the failed material at no cost. A system warranty covers the labor, removal, and correction of the failure. On a commercial project where downtime costs money or a residential project where you need the space functional, the difference is substantial. System warranty is what you actually need when something fails.

Our certification scope includes the Ardex products we install most frequently. When you work with our repair mortar services or our self-leveling underlayment work, the certification status applies across the project. Check with us at quote time if you have a less common Ardex product in mind.

Common questions

Ardex Certification Questions, Answered

What certification covers, warranty difference, training and project coverage.

Crew has completed Ardex training on specific systems, follows Ardex install spec, and submits documentation supporting Ardex system warranty. Not every contractor handling Ardex products has certification; we maintain it because it changes what customers actually receive.
Product warranty replaces a failed material; system warranty addresses the actual cost of correcting a failure (labor, demolition of overlying work, consequential damage). For commercial projects especially, the difference is significant.
Our certification covers the Ardex products we install regularly: overlays, SLU, repair mortars, waterproofing systems. Less common products may require additional verification; we confirm at quote time.
As-built dimensions, batch records, install photographs, any required testing. The package is submitted to Ardex for system warranty registration and a copy is delivered to you at handoff.
Slightly, reflecting the training, documentation, and submission overhead. The cost difference is small compared to the value of system warranty over product warranty on commercial projects.

System warranty on our Ardex waterproofing install. The cert paperwork was delivered at handoff; if anything fails, the warranty covers the actual cost. Real value for commercial work.

They are the only certified Ardex installer we work with on overlay projects. The warranty submission is part of the install package, not an extra. That changes the value of the install.

Y. W5

Documentation during install was thorough. Photos, batch records, dimensional verification. Our internal compliance file got the warranty paperwork with no follow-up needed.

They explained the product-warranty vs system-warranty difference clearly at quote time. Made the value of cert install obvious. Worth the small premium.
