Acid, Caustic & Solvent-Rated Chemical-Resistant Flooring
Acids, caustics, solvents, and process chemicals eat through standard concrete and epoxy. We install urethane and specialty epoxy systems engineered to your exact chemical exposure, with independent ratings and a written guarantee. Free estimate.

Why generic floors fail
Why Chemical-Resistant Flooring Cannot Be One-Size-Fits-All
A floor rated for dilute caustic will fail under hydrochloric acid. A system that handles hydrocarbons dissolves under chlorinated solvents. Generic chemical resistance does not exist. The floor must match the actual chemicals your operations use, at the concentrations and temperatures you use them, with contact times that reflect real spill and cleanup scenarios.
We start by collecting the full chemical inventory from your operations or safety team. That includes process chemicals, cleaning agents, and occasional spill scenarios. We cross-reference each chemical against manufacturer resistance charts and recommend the system that handles the entire profile. Severe exposure (concentrated acids, hot caustic, broad chemical spectrum) calls for urethane cement. Moderate exposure with a narrower chemical mix works with specialty chemical-resistant epoxy.
This approach connects to our broader manufacturing floor work and overlaps with heavy-duty concrete where impact and chemical exposure both matter. Also distinct from food-grade epoxy (compliance-driven) and warehouse epoxy (durability-focused).

How Chemical-Resistant Flooring Gets Installed in Pittsburgh
-
Gather chemical exposure data
We work with your operations and safety teams to document every chemical the floor will contact, including concentration, temperature, contact time, and frequency. Occasional spill scenarios and cleaning protocols are part of the spec.
-
Match system to exposure
Using manufacturer chemical-resistance charts, we identify the system that handles your full chemical profile. Urethane cement for severe exposure; specialty epoxy for moderate exposure with specific chemical mix.
-
Prepare slab to spec
The concrete slab is diamond-ground to the prep profile the system requires. Old coatings, contaminants, and cracks are removed. The surface is cleaned and primed according to the system manufacturer's requirements.
-
Install and cure
Urethane cement is hand-troweled at engineered thickness with cove base up the walls; specialty epoxy is applied with topcoat at the correct thickness. Full cure is documented before operations resume.
The cost of wrong spec
Why Spec Match Determines Floor Life
Chemical floor failures almost always trace to a system that was not specified for the full chemical exposure. A floor handles 95% of the chemicals in the plant, then fails against one chemical that was not on the original spec sheet. We prevent this by getting the complete chemical inventory upfront, including occasional exposures and cleaning chemicals that operations teams sometimes overlook.
Coordinate with dust-proof sealing if your facility also needs containment, and with ESD flooring if static control is required. The right system handles multiple demands; the wrong combination compromises both performance and cost.

What Pittsburgh Operations Say About Their Chemical-Resistant Floors
They specced for chemicals our previous contractor had not considered including occasional spill scenarios. Three years of process operations, zero floor failures. Real chemistry expertise.
Urethane cement install with cove base in our plating area. Holds against the acid and caustic we use, cleanups happen without floor damage. Best floor we have had in that zone.
They got the chemical profile from our safety team and matched the system. Documentation supported our internal compliance audit. No improvisation, just engineering.
Different systems for different zones based on actual exposure. Cost-effective and durable. The system match is what we needed; one floor everywhere would have failed or overspent.
