A membrane alone cannot seal a building. Corners, drains, penetrations and substrate transitions all require matched joint-detail products. Mapei's advantage is offering the complete chemistry under one brand, so every product in the system is engineered to work with every other product.
We never install Mapelastic without the full Mapeflex detail package. That means Mapeflex tape at every corner, Mapeflex sealant at every transition, and the matched primer and protection layer per Mapei spec. Tile-coordinated projects benefit from the same Mapei brand across adhesive, grout and waterproofing, keeping warranty paths clean and simplifying trade coordination.
We determine which Mapei waterproofing product fits the application (Mapelastic Smart, AquaDefense, etc.), identify all joint-detail requirements, and coordinate with tile trades if Mapei adhesive will follow.
Prepare the substrate
The concrete or substrate is cleaned per Mapei spec, cracks are repaired with compatible Mapei repair products, and all joints are isolated with Mapeflex tape or sealant before membrane application.
Apply the membrane
Mapelastic is mixed and applied to the engineered thickness across the entire field. Mapeflex detail is installed at every corner, drain, penetration and transition. No shortcuts on detail work.
Cure and finish
The system cures per Mapei schedule. The protection layer or tile adhesive (often Mapei Kerabond) is applied per project spec, and the waterproofing is handed off ready for service.
